At Home with Homebodii: Alexandra Nea

Alexandra Nea is one of Australia's most talented fashion illustrators, creating works of fashion bridal portraits, afternoon tea desserts, and illustrated vignettes of childhood. As a freelance illustrator and designer, Alexandra has created illustrations for clients such as Mecca Cosmetica, Elle Magazine Australia, Myer, and Homebodii! Her decade long experience in the Fashion Industry as a Senior Fashion Designer is sure to have played a role in her inspirational designs, and the vast aptitude Alexandra displays. Currently Alexandra is working on private commissions and commercial illustrations, and fashion design projects while being an attentive mum. Homebodii has been lucky enough to have illustrations created by Alexandra elegantly showcasing the femininity of our designs.

This talented lady who was named one of Australia's top 12 Fashion Illustrators to follow in 2015 by Harper's BAZAAR recently took the time to be interviewed by Homebodii about her inspiration, projects, and hopes for the future.

What inspires you when illustrating?

It could be anything! I get inspired by beautiful design whether it be from nature, architecture, fashion or the arts. 1920's Chinoiserie and beautiful unique antique pieces will always get my heart racing.

When did you first know illustration and design is what you wanted
to do?

I have always drawn, painted and sewn and have always been crafty. It was a natural progression to move from childhood hobbies into chasing a creative career path.

What is the most exciting project you have been involved with?

The past 12 months have seen all the blood sweat and tears I have poured into my freelance work really take off and I have had great opportunities come my way with a selection of fantastic corporate clients and brands like Elle Magazine Australia, Dermalogica, Mecca Cosmetica, Myer and Pacific Fair. However my most exciting project to date is my two year old little man, Sam. He is a bundle of crazy toddler energy that keeps me on my toes every day.

What are your plans for the future?

Continue to work on building my freelance illustration empire! I am very excited to see where the future will take me career wise and open to all sorts of possibilities. One goal is that at some point in the future I will be able to work on a collaboration with my favourite label Valentino. Making Daydreams reality!
