At Home with Homebodii: Kristina Petrick
This month our At Home with Homebodii feature is on the lovely Kristina Petrick. Homebodii has had the pleasure to work with her and her project Day in My Dreams and is delighted we could feature this talented creative on our blog. Kristina currently works for a marketing agency in New York City, working on visual and written creative content. Her fashion marketing background has played a large role in her passion for blogging, and led to the creation of Day in My Dreams. Her minimalist clothing and often monochrome colour palette has led to the creation of beautiful images which she shares on her blog and social media. We talked to Kristina about marketing, blogging, and being at home.

Tell us a bit about yourself and how you came to create A Day in My Dreams.
I started my fashion career as a marketing manager for a women's shoe company and worked with influencers in promoting several of our own shoe designs. One day I thought to myself "that looks fun" and hence was born Day in My Dreams.
How do you manage your time between working full-time and maintaining a blog?
It's a real challenge! I write while I travel, edit photos during movie date nights, and fiddle on Instagram during lunch and coffee breaks... and basically every free moment between. It's a big commitment, but equally rewarding.
Do you think your marketing background has helped create a successful blog, and if so how?
Definitely. Having worked in brand marketing previously, and working for a digital marketing agency now - I get to experience influencer marketing from business, agency, consumer and influencer perspectives. It helps me to understand what readers are looking for, while also understanding what's important for brands when it comes to measuring KPIs.
What is your ultimate fashion tip?
When in doubt, keep it simple. Layering accessories and complex looks to hide ootd imperfections or that cheap blouse you can't get rid of just makes things worse. Everyone is in a rush. Know what works with your body type, and have some defaults you can fall back on when you're in a rush.
What item can't you live without?
My Adidas Originals. And black boots. And black jeans ... am I only allowed to pick one?
How would you describe your morning ritual?
Fast. Haha. I don't have much time to waste, so for me it's about a good facial oil, filling the brows, and grabbing something from my wardrobe that's chic but also practical for the day's activities ahead.
How would you describe your bedtime ritual?
Also fast. I try to wrap up any loose ends so I can start every day fresh, then pretty much crash the second my head hits the pillow. The benefits of balancing a busy lifestyle.
What is your favourite thing about being at home?
Quiet. I work in NYC spending half my time there, so being home in Virginia is my unwind time from the exhilaration and fast pace of the city. I also come home to a family of boyfriend, dog, cat and the best squad a girl could ask for, so it's all about those people and moments that really count.
What book are you currently reading?
Do magazines count? My favourite read (when I get the privilege of leisure time) is Cereal Magazine.
Which homebodii garment best suits your personality?
I love love love the PJ sets. The piping is so cute. And if the postman shows up before I've decided to dress... so be it. I have two sets (grey and black satin) and they literally travel everywhere with me.
