A little about me...

Hi, I'm Lucy. I'm a health and fitness coach. I'm from England, but have lived in Sydney for the past 7 years, and have just moved to Bali! I got married in September 2023, and it was the most magical day.

Our approach to planning the wedding was…

I'm a natural planner so I went straight into planning mode after we got engaged, whereas my husband is much more relaxed. We decided to get the big things out of the way as soon as we had locked in our date - the venue, band, photographer, videographer, caterer etc. This took a lot of the pressure off, and then it was really down to the smaller details which I loved creating.

Looking back on the day we are so glad that we…

Did everything exactly the way we wanted to. There is a lot of pressure around weddings, and the most important thing is what you and your partner want. I'm so glad we stuck to our gut and did things our way. One thing we were a little worried about was not going with a 'traditional' wedding band. We booked an all female singer, sax, and percussion trio who would roam into the crowd (very Ibiza vibes) and everyone LOVED them - I don't think there was one person sat down all evening! Everyone mentioned how incredible the band was, so I'm so pleased we stuck with it.

The most unexpected part of the day was.

We chose to get married in England in September, so it was always going to be a risk with the rain. Of course, after a 3 week long heat wave, the remnants of a hurricane hit the UK two days before the wedding, so it was up in the air! During the morning, we had on/off sun and rain, and of course predicted rain at 1pm - our ceremony time. While I was preparing myself for becoming one very wet bride, somehow, the skies cleared and we were able to have our dream outdoor ceremony, with only a few spots of rain.My husband is Irish, so we all joke he had a lucky shamrock!

When I look back on the day now I feel….

So much gratitude for such a perfect day. As we met in Sydney, we had some of our Sydney family make the very long journey over, as well as Patrick's family travelling over from Ireland. We feel so lucky that so many of our loved ones travelled to be with us on our special day.

A word of advice to new brides would be…

It will be absolutely perfect, whatever happens. But here's a few things I would recommend having done the process myself.

1 - Sit down with your partner and decide on your priorities (and stick to them!) Weddings are expensive, and it's very easy to get carried away.
2 - Delegate! You won't remember anything you planned on the day (because you are having the absolute best time!) so make sure you delegate anything important to your bridesmaids.
3 - Look after yourself and your health. So many women drastically crash diet before their big day, and it can not only ruin the lead up, but have huge consequences for your long term health. My Homebodii moment was special because and I wore...

I felt so beautiful in my robe - I wanted something long, with a small amount of lace that was similar to my dress, and of course was comfortable. I wore the Helena Lace Bridal Robe, and absolutely loved it. The morning with my bridesmaids, my mum and my nieces is something that I will treasure forever, and I love all of the photos in my robe!
